Dr. Kerry-Ann Holder, who trained in Cardiff, is an experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist who shares her work time between private practice with Talis Consulting Limited and the NHS. She has extensive experience of providing psychological services to individuals with behaviours which challenge, children with chronic health conditions, children and adults with Learning Disabilities and retains a longstanding special interest in Clinical Neuropsychology.

Dr. Holder has been Head of Department for Child Health Psychology at the Children's Hospital for Wales and Lead Consultant Psychologist in Haemophilia since March 2016. These posts have both a clinical focus and a strategic service development role including input into the development of a Paediatric Neurorehabilitation service in UHW and the use of Theraplay in medical settings. Dr. Holder undertook Theraplay® Level 1 Training in 2015 and incorporates this approach in her clinical practice to support families in building and enhancing attachment. She will be undertaking further Theraplay training in the future.

Dr. Holder continues to be heavily involved in teaching and supervising Trainee Clinical Psychologists on the South Wales Doctoral Training Course (based at Cardiff University) for the last 10 years (specialisms including Neuropsychology, Trainee Self-Care and solution-focussed consultation). Dr Holder also currently supervises final year elective trainees on specialist placement in Child Health in addition to her current role as Clinical Supervisor for trainee psychologists doctoral theses.

Dr. Holder is the current Lead for the South Wales Doctoral Training Course Professional Mentor Group and is also an Approved Supervisor for BTEC Advanced Diploma in Positive Behavioural Support and currently supervising four candidates over two years in their practice.

Dr Holder will be undertaking further training in the areas of Leadership, Compassion Focussed Therapy and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy in 2017.

Dr. Holder successfully passed the Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Glasgow in 2012.
Recent CPD

Dr. Holder is attending a Beginners Welsh Course in Nant Gwrtheyrn in February 2018.

May 2nd - May 5th 2017 Dr. Holder will be attending an introductory 4-day course on Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, an intervention model developed by Dr Dan Hughes, Clinical Psychologist, USA. This approach assists therapists and other professionals to understand and effectively support children, young people and their families

March 16th 2017 – Dr. Holder attended the Health and Care Research Wales, Mental Capacity Act: Action in Research Conference. The day brought together researchers and other key stakeholders (including research participants) from across the UK to develop a consensus about facilitating access to health and social care research for adults with impaired capacity to consent.

March 14th 2017 – Dr. Holder attended the Hugh James Brain Injury Conference which covered diverse topics including; Court of Protection, an introduction to Neurologic Music Therapy and Pain Management in brain injury and it's impact on rehabilitation.

Feb 8th - Feb 10th – Dr. Holder attended an introductory Compassion Focussed Therapy workshop facilitated by Dr Chris Irons. Originally developed by Dr. Paul Gilbert, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) is an evidence-based form of psychotherapy that draws upon our evolved capacity for compassion to facilitate the alleviation of human suffering.
